With data transfer rates up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0, USB 3.0 is quickly gaining in popularity. However, although it has a higher voltage and current level, passive cables are still limited to a maximum length less than 5 meter.

This Active Extension Cable draws power from the USB 3.0 bus and uses it to boost and regenerate the data signals, ensuring that full SuperSpeeds can be maintained to much longer lengths. By combining two of these extension cables with a 3 meter passive cables a total length of 13 meters (42.6 feet).

This 5 meter (16.4 foot) cable is backwards compatible with all previous USB versions and any USB equipped device. It has a USB 3.0 A male connector on one end and a USB 3.0 A female port on the other end. Per the USB 3.0 spec, the plastic inside each connector is colored blue to distinguish it from connectors designed for previous USB versions.
